Planning a trip to Waikiki Beach? Researching the best hotels in Waikiki? Well, no need to look any further than the Embassy Suites Waikiki Beach! Keep on reading for a detailed Embassy Suites Waikiki hotel review!

This property might not be “oceanfront”, but it is literally across the street. Plus, with all the other benefits of staying at the Embassy Suites, you will not be missing out!

There is a reason this Waikiki hotel is highly ranked on TripAdvisor. As matter of fact, we are going over our top ten reasons to stay at this Waikiki Beach resort!

Now, everyone has their priorities when booking a place to stay for vacation. What we all have in common when looking for a hotel, is that we want a safe, clean, and welcoming property.

No need to have y’all wait any longer. Let’s begin with the number one reason you should book your Waikiki vacation at the Embassy Suites.

When booking accommodations for any trip, location should be a priority. Your vacation is only so long so you don’t want to waste precious time getting from point A to point B.

Embassy Suites is centrally located around beaches, shops, and restaurants. Within steps, you can reach all three. You can easily stay here and never get in a car…it’s that close to everything you need.

The beaches. Like I mentioned above, this is not a beachfront property, but I don’t feel like I miss anything since the beaches are an easy walk across the street.

The shops. Embassy Suites is literally attached to the Waikiki Beach Walk. The Beach Walk is a two-story shopping center comprised of cute boutiques and numerous restaurants.

Right across the street from that is the Royal Hawaiian Center, which is a gorgeous open-air mall filled with shops and some of our favorite food stops! (Get the haupia acai bowl from Island Vintage Coffee.)

Directly across the street from the Royal Hawaiian Center is the International Market Place, so within two blocks, you have more shopping and dining choices than you’ll know what to do with!

Now, my personal favorite, restaurants.

There are four dining options attached to the hotel alone. Three are full scale restaurants and one is a coffee shop. Within walking distance, there are countless options!

I’m not kidding when I say you can stay here a week, never get in a car, and never eat at the same place twice.

One other advantage to Embassy Suites’ location is that it is in the quieter area of Waikiki. One block away is a rather busy and lively street…sure to have noise until later in the evenings.

Embassy Suites is situated in-between low traffic streets, so we found that is noticeably quiet when enjoying time out on the balcony.

Overall, as far as location goes, you can’t go wrong booking your stay here.

Free Breakfast and Evening Reception

Do I need to say more? Hawaii isn’t the cheapest destination, so every little bit helps with the budget. Enter, free breakfast AND evening snacks and drinks!

This isn’t just a quick grab and go breakfast, although it can be if you want, but they offer a full-scale buffet style breakfast and beverage bar.

You can choose from both cold and hot items and they normally (pre-covid) offer an omelet station.

The breakfast area is located near the pool and offers a ton of seating.

In the evenings, Embassy Suites offers free drinks, yes, adult drinks, and snacks. These are also offered near the pool area.

These two benefits alone can save you a lot of money over the course of your trip.

**During covid, you can not serve yourself breakfast. The workers will put your order in to-go containers. They don’t offer the full menu as well.

However, swipe over to see what you can expect to get. It’s still a very generous breakfast.

Also, during covid, the evening reception is canceled. Be sure to check with the hotel before booking if this is a priority for you.**

Room and Views

Veteran travelers flock to Embassy Suites all over the world for one reason. Their rooms! It’s in their name…every room is a suite.

Folks have grown to love and expect the extra space Embassy Suites offer. This is especially true for traveling families.

Traveling with family is amazing, but sometimes, we all need our space. Even more so after a tiring day at the beach.

The rooms here in Waikiki come with a small kitchenette (again, a money saver), a living room, and one or two bedrooms.

Here is a tour of the one bedroom partial ocean view room with TWO balconies. This will help you visualize the setup before booking.

Most rooms have a balcony or two, but a few rooms on the first floor do not. We really wanted the balcony space to relax first thing in the morning and to wind down in the evenings.

As far as the views go, there is no wrong choice. You can get an ocean view, partial ocean view, pool view, and city view. (Remember, all the ocean views you need are right across the street!)

Bottom line, you can never go wrong with extra space. It feels roomier, feels more like a home, and honestly, who wouldn’t want a little separate space from their kids?!

We have older kids, so I think they enjoyed the space away from us too! Ha!

Below is a view from our balcony on the 20th floor.

Pool Area

Talk about an escape to paradise. The pool area at Embassy Suites is the epitome of relaxation.

The “lawn” area is covered in palm trees, there’s a relaxing waterfall, and they even have a koi pond. It’s not just a pool, but an oasis.

Along with a good size heated pool, they also have an attached hot tub type spa, and a small shallow area perfect for toddlers and young kids.

Lounge chairs are scattered around the pool area, along with cabanas and daybeds to rent. The Pakini Lounge is a covered area that has two lounge areas that you can reserve too.

We tried out the Pakini Lounge because it was raining the day visited the pool. It was nice because we were able to keep all our stuff dry!

If you are sensitive to the sun, the Pakini Lounge might be a great option for you. Oh! Another perk to booking the Pakini Lounge is the $30 food credit from the YardHouse restaurant. (They deliver to the pool FOR FREE!)

You’re on vacation. Treat yourself!

HELPFUL HINT: No need to haul your towels from the room to the pool. They have larger beach towels available right next to the pool!

Some of you can care less about the hotel gym, but for my husband, who travels for work, the gym is particularly important to him.

He’s become a hotel gym snob even.

Did the Embassy Suites Waikiki gym pass his high standards? You bet it did and here’s why:

  • They have dumbbells up to 75 lbs (He said most hotel gyms don’t go this high in weight.)
  • They have a fancy self-powered treadmill. (Bryan couldn’t wait to try it out!)
  • They have plenty of space. Most hotel gyms are very small rooms. The gym is large and has two rooms that make up the fitness center.
  • There’s a water station.
  • There’s a Lysol wipe station, so he can wipe down the equipment before and after use.

Overall, it satisfies my husband’s gym standards, which in turn, should satisfy yours as well.

Here’s a quick tour of the fitness center at the Embassy Suites Waikiki.

Customer Service/Concierge

The customer service you receive at the Embassy Suites in Waikiki is top notch. From the front desk, to the housekeeping, to the concierge…everyone makes you feel welcomed.

Pre-covid, you are greeted with a Hawaiian drink at check-in. This was my one of my favorite moments of staying here because it set the Aloha spirit right away.

Checking in and out is a breeze and the open-air lobby is so welcoming.

When we came across housekeeping, they all said, “Aloha!” and even gave up the elevator for us.

We met the concierge, Tomoko, and instantly felt like we were chatting with a friend. She was incredibly helpful and on her own, added our reward points to our account.

Sometimes it’s the people who keep bringing us back to the same hotels.

Guest Activities

In addition to the pool, gym, breakfast and evening reception, Embassy Suites offers a few activities that are included with your stay.

Want to learn how to hula? Maybe learn how to play the ukulele? Or maybe you want to start the day with a little sunrise yoga?

We tried two out of three, and let me tell ya, we had a blast! The hula lessons are taught on the Waikiki Beach Walk Plaza Stage by a husband and wife team.

This is so much fun! It’s an hour long and people on the street would watch, cheer for you, and even join in after a bit.

By the time the hour is finished, you will be hula dancing to an actual song. Not to mention, you learn the history and culture behind hula dancing.

On our last day, we had a red eye flight home, so the sunrise yoga was the perfect start to a long day and even longer flight.

It was nice to be able to spend an hour in a peaceful setting stretching out every muscle before flying home that evening.

Normally, yoga is taught out on the Grand Lanai near the pool, but it was raining that day, so they moved it indoors.

We were not able to participate in the ukulele lessons, but can you imagine how much fun that would be? I am certain your kids would love to learn.

Remember, these are all included in your stay. Just let the front desk or concierge know, so they can get you booked.

These activities are a huge perk and only add value to your Hawaiian vacation.

Laundry Service

Yeah, this is pretty much self-explanatory, however, I’m going to remind you that you’re going to the beach. The beach has a lot of sand.

It’s nice to have the option to wash all your sandy clothes before packing them in your suitcase to bring home!

Personally, I do not worry with laundry when traveling, but I really don’t want to fool with sand in my luggage and then later in my house.

So, I appreciate having the easy access of a laundry facility in my hotel for that reason alone!

A lot of folks will rent a car when visiting Oahu, so you need to know the details about parking. First off, there is no self-parking at the Embassy Suites in Waikiki.

For $40 a night, you have access to the valet parking. You can take your car as often as you’d like without any additional charges.

The valet workers were incredibly speedy! When we came down, one would literally take off running to bring us our car.

Once the car arrived, two would open all the doors for us and shut them after we got in. (It totally felt fancy!)

I hate paying for parking, but if I must, being treated like royalty is the definitely the way to go!

HELPFUL HINT: Please remember to tip the valet every time they get your car for you. No need to tip when you drop off the car…unless you want to.

Safety and Cleanliness

We have visited this property twice now. Once before covid and then visited Waikiki during covid.

Honestly, Embassy Suites was equally as clean both times. Cleanliness is a non-negotiable for me. I can stay in dated hotels, but they MUST be clean.

Visiting Hawaii during covid had its hurdles, but once there, the entire state did an amazing job with making you feel safe.

The hotel itself had hand sanitation stations around every corner. There were foot markers everywhere to help remind you to social distance.

In the gym, the breakfast area, and other places around the property, you can easily find Lysol wipes.

The room was spotless and during covid, housekeeping does not enter your room unless you request them to. This keeps your space “safe”.

I appreciate everything Embassy Suites did during Hawaii’s covid restrictions.

They have gone above and beyond to provide a clean and safe space where you can still create wonderful family memories.

Embassy Suites Waikiki Hotel Review

I’m not sure if you can tell or not, but I am very enthusiastic about our stay at Waikiki’s Embassy Suites, and I’m excited to spread the word so others can have the same experience.

There are some who would recommend you not spend too much money on a hotel if you don’t plan on spending a lot of time there.

There is some truth that, but when I think of a great vacation, a good hotel is part of that experience. Like, I said about getting the welcome drink at check-in.

That little gesture set the stage, the mood, and the beginnings of an amazing Oahu vacation.

Add to that gesture, all the other benefits mentioned above, and you can see that investing in a nicer hotel can amplify a magical vacation.

We hope you learned a lot from our Embassy Suites Waikiki hotel review and now you’re ready to book your own stay!
